I hear this and I see it too. People thinking they can spot reduce fat on their bodies by exercising that area to the max, but yet turn around and eat a bag of chips to fuel them.
We need to STOP that mindset. It does not work. Nutrition and Movement go hand in hand.
You need them both.
You need good nutrition to fuel the movement. If you don't have the proper nutrition for your movement your body will not respond the way you may want it too.
Have you ever noticed how the days you eat well your body responds with more energy and motivation?
What you put on your plate will directly influence your performance daily.
Whether you are a high performance athlete or the person who is looking for long term movement in aging.
When we fuel properly, movement is more enjoyable because we have the energy to thrive through it. Proper nutrition also helps us to keep focused on our mind tasks as well. So Sorry my friends, but 4 cups of coffee is not proper nutrition to fuel you.
As we age, the connection between what we eat and how we move becomes even more important. A lot of times when we are just cooking for one or two we tend to take the easy way out. A TV dinner or prepackaged meal, no vegetables, we grab take out or have a bowl of soup.
These are not viable options to keep your body properly fueled.
Many people focus on hard core exercise, fasting, detoxes, quick fix programs but they are never going to be sustainable in the long term.
Bottom line: Exercise and Nutrition are not in a competition. They compliment each other and they both need to be a part of Everyone's Wellness Plan.
Sidenote: It is not about perfectionism, it is about balance. I don't teach perfect, I teach real, sustainable and long term. I am the product of what I have been taught, practiced and learned.
Many people come to me and say they do not know what to cook, food is expensive and the bad stuff is cheaper.
Starting out with a nutrition consult can help you out.
I offer 30 min complimentary consults where you can ask all the questions.
Take some time to think about how you feel? What is your nutrition looking like? Do you have energy or feel sluggish?
Maybe it is time to check in with yourself.
I am here for you too.
In warmth and wellness
Lisa
